What we are....

The SYC (Schaumburg Youth Choir) is a recreational and educational outlet for talented singers, open to high school and college students (ages 15 - 22) currently enrolled in their school's choral program.

What it's all about...

As a member of the SYC, you'll meet once weekly at the Prairie Center for the Arts to rehearse advanced choral repertoire.  Rehearsals are held Sunday evenings from 7 pm to 9 pm.  The choir will present concerts at the Prairie Center and will also perform as the resident chorus for the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra.  Within the few months since forming in January 2014, the choir has performed at the Schaumburg Township District Library, the Schaumburg Boomers Stadium, the Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center, and at Chicago's Symphony Center for the Schaumburg Youth Orchestra's 25th Anniversary Gala Concert.

Why should you join?

First off, you'll receive top-notch training in sight-reading, diction, vocal production, and musicianship.  This new skill set will help provide you with the groundwork needed to perform as a choral and solo singer.  Plus, you'll be able to apply your talents in performances at the Prairie Center and at special engagements around town.  Finally, you'll meet other students that share a love of singing.

Audition for the 2017-18 season!

The SYC perform for the Chicago Bulls at the United Center on Friday, October 14!
