The Village of Schaumburg would like to inform the public that construction on Wise Road from Roselle Road to Irving Park Road is anticipated to begin Monday, June 26 and run through the end of November. During the project, Wise Road will be reduced to one lane in both directions.
Work will include concrete patching, asphalt overlay and construction of landscape medians. Work on the project will take place in sections and will begin just east of Springinsguth Road to Crabtree Lane.
The project is a joint venture with the Cook County Transportation and Highway Department (CCTHD) and will be completed in conjunction with a village project to install new landscape and irrigated medians on Wise Road.
While there may be temporary access restrictions in some areas, access to businesses will be maintained throughout the project.
Motorists are reminded to maintain the posted speed limit and refrain from using cell phones in the work zone. Motorists should also plan for additional time if traveling in the area.
Improvements to Wise Road were included in the village’s Capital Improvement Program, which outlines $57 million in capital improvements—the largest such plan in the village’s history. The plan, which was approved January 10, includes a 33 percent increase in funds dedicated to local residential street repair, increasing the total program to $8 million per year for the next five years.
Continued investment in infrastructure was one of the priorities defined by participant feedback received in the 2016 National Citizen Survey that was completed by 1,450 randomly mailed recipients in Schaumburg.
Construction updates will be provided in the village’s free weekly e-newsletter (sign up at www.schaumburg.com) and on the village’s website at http://bit.ly/2rUgux7. Those with questions or concerns can email WiseRoadImprovement@schaumburg.com, dial 311 in Schaumburg or call (847) 895-4500 outside of Schaumburg.
