The Village of Schaumburg will be hosting its Annual Public Safety Open House that will feature the Schaumburg Fire Department and the Schaumburg Police Department. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, October 5 at Fire Station 51, 950 W. Schaumburg Rd. and the Police Station, 1000 W. Schaumburg Rd. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.
The fire department will perform extrication demonstrations, show off fire gear and equipment, allow children to spray a hose and climb on the trucks, as well as offer many other fun, educational experiences.
The police department will have numerous displays of equipment and gear used by officers. Guided tours will be available inside the police department with educational and interactive opportunities including DUI vision goggles and evidence collection. Police squad cars and other emergency equipment will be on display. The Community Room will offer additional crime prevention information and materials about the many programs and services provided by the police department.
Attendees are also encouraged to “Stuff-A-Truck” by bringing non-perishable items that will be donated to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry. Those who donate will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a fire department or police department safety basket. Suggested items for donation include paper products and non-perishable foods; most common needed items include canned meats, canned pasta, soup, juice, snacks and crackers, baking items, tomato products, paper goods and hygiene products.
