The Department of Cultural Services is comprised of two divisions, the Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts and Special Events.

The Prairie Center serves as the hub of arts activities in the Northwest suburbs; music, theatre, dance, film, story telling, children's performances and the visual arts are offered year round in the Center's 442-seat theatre, 100-seat lecture hall, outdoor stage and gallery. In addition, a fully-equipped video production studio provides capabilities for the development of a variety of special interest programs.

The Special Events Division oversees coordination of an array of activities including Septemberfest, held each year on Labor Day Weekend; the Prairie Arts Festival, featuring the works of over 125 fine artists from throughout the country; Schaumburg's holiday market, Christkindlesmarkt; and the Volunteer of the Year Awards program.
