Village Receives Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

Post Date:10/15/2025 10:00 AM

The Village of Schaumburg has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its Fiscal Year 2025-26 Budget. This award represents the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and reflects the commitment of the village’s elected officials and staff to meeting the highest principles of effective budget presentation.

To receive the award, Schaumburg’s budget document was evaluated by an independent review panel and rated “proficient” in four nationally recognized categories:

  • Policy document

  • Financial plan

  • Operations guide

  • Communications device

The village also received special recognition for its inclusion of performance measures and strategic goals and strategies, demonstrating excellence in how Schaumburg links financial planning with measurable results and long-term priorities.

“This recognition underscores Schaumburg’s continued commitment to fiscal responsibility, transparency, and strategic planning,” said Village President Tom Dailly. “Our residents can take pride in knowing their local government is nationally recognized for the quality and accountability of its financial management.”

Village Manager Brian Townsend added, “The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award reflects the hard work and collaboration of our entire Finance team and village departments. It shows our dedication to producing a document that not only meets national standards, but also clearly communicates how resources are aligned with the community’s goals.”

The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program to encourage and assist local governments in preparing high-quality budget documents that reflect both sound financial management and effective communication. More than 1,900 governments participate in the program across North America.

This is the 11th consecutive year the Village of Schaumburg has received this honor.
