Save the date for the annual conservation and sustainability fair taking place from 1 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 31 at the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Rd.

Learn from local gardening experts about designing your garden with native plants and showcase our region’s natural beauty! The Illinois Master Gardeners will present on planting for pollinators and facilitate a seed planting activity to take home. Village of Schaumburg staff will be on hand to answer questions about guidelines for growing native plants in the community. Test your knowledge with plant trivia, pick up a free oak seedling and enter a raffle to win a starter pot set for your patio.

This event is offered in partnership with the Schaumburg Township District Library and the summer reading challenge kickoff: Plant a Seed and Read. A band and snow cone truck will be located outside the library for the kickoff.

Illinois Master Gardeners Presentation – 2 p.m. 
Native Pollinators - When it comes to pollination, honey bees get a majority of the attention. However, many insects play a role in pollination. This presentation will discuss different native pollinators and how to make your landscape attractive to them. The presentation will take place in the ground floor Workshop area and include a seed planting activity.

Exhibitors representing local environmental organizations will be on hand with information and be available to answer questions about their programs and projects.This is sure to be a fun and educational event for the whole family!
