The Environmental Health Division conducts licensing and routine inspections for all body care establishments in the Village of Schaumburg. This includes establishments that are engaged in the practice of barbering, cosmetology, esthetics, hair braiding, nail technology, electrolysis, massage therapy, tanning facilities, and health clubs. Routine unannounced inspections are conducted biennially to verify that establishments are being maintained in sanitary condition. Tanning facilities and establishments that provide permanent makeup / tattoo services are also licensed and regulated by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Professional Licenses, Permits and Registration Required
No person may engage in the practice of barbering, cosmetology, esthetics, nail technology, electrolysis, or massage therapy in the Village of Schaumburg without a license from the State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Proof of professional license must be provided before the establishment will be approved to operate.
Barbers, cosmetologists, estheticians, hair braiders, and nail technologists must complete salon/shop registration with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation. Proof of salon/shop registration must be provided before the establishment will be approved to operate.
Tattoo and permanent makeup establishments must complete body art registration with the Illinois Department of Public Health. Proof of body art registration must be provided before the establishment will be approved to operate.
