Rebuild Illinois Grant Information

The Village of Schaumburg will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at 6:30 p.m. via a Zoom web conference meeting, as permitted by Section 6 of Illinois Executive Order 2020-07, to provide interested parties an opportunity to express their views on the proposed Rebuild Illinois Public Infrastructure Grant (RIPI) project. The Village has applied or intends to apply to the Illinois Department of Commerce & Economic Opportunity (DCEO) for a grant from the Rebuild Illinois program. These funds are to be used for community development projects that will include the following activities:

  • Regional Economic Development Grant Program (click here for Project Description)
    This 55-acre site is located at the southwest corner of Irving Park and Rodenburg roads PINS 07-32-402-003-0000, 07-32-404-003-0000, 07-32-404-004-0000, and 07-32-404-005-0000. Grant funds are being requested to construct an access road that connects a major roadway on the site to the Schaumburg Metra station parking lot.

Amount requested: $1,250,000

Amount in non-Rebuild Illinois funds on the Project (source(s) and amount): Up to a 50% match of grant funds. Maximum of $625,000 of private and/or public funds. Private funds would come from the contract purchaser of property.

  • Public Infrastructure Grant Program (click here for Project Description)
    This grant program provides the village with the opportunity to construct the adjacent street segments to the new 12-acre public park in the center of the 90 North District West which is scheduled to commence in 2020.

Amount requested: $1,750,000

Amount in non-Rebuild Illinois funds on the Project (source(s) and amount): $1,750,000 from North Schaumburg TIF.

This grant is for the demolition of the Woodfield Green office buildings at 1920 and 1930 Thoreau. Demolition of these buildings is pivotal in clearing the way for a planned Entertainment District around the iconic Schaumburg Renaissance Hotel and Convention Center.

Amount requested: $750,000

Amount in non-Rebuild Illinois funds on the Project (source(s) and amount): $750,000 from North Schaumburg TIF.
