Elgin O'Hare Western Access Project
The Illinois Tollway is building a new bridge to carry Rohlwing Road (Route 53) traffic over Illinois Route 390 as part of the new I-290 Interchange for the Elgin O'Hare Western Access Project. Rohlwing Road has recently undergone a new traffic configuration where traffic in both directions is now using the new bridge over Route 390, changing routes for drivers traveling between Rohlwing Road and Route 390 and I-290. Traffic is using frontage roads west of Rohlwing Road and the existing ramp near Meacham Road/Medinah Road to travel between Rohlwing Road and Route 390 and I-290. The new traffic configuration is part of the final design of the Route 390 project and will remain in place once construction is complete. For more information on the benefits of the project and detour maps, visit the Illinois Tollway's website.
