The Village of Schaumburg invites residents to participate in its Community Recycling Events, providing an opportunity to safely dispose of various recyclable materials, including electronics, paint and document destruction.

Items Not Accepted
The Spring Recycling Event does not accept hazardous waste, or large appliances. Residents with hazardous waste can use the Naperville Household Hazardous Waste Facility, 156 Fort Hill Dr., Naperville from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. For more information, call Naperville’s facility at (630) 420-6095.

LRS will be providing Schaumburg an Annual Electronic Waste Home Collection weeklong curbside event, date TBD.
NOTE: After date TBD, the LRS E-Waste submission page will close.
- Please place your items near the street, either loose (do not use plastic bags) or clearly marked in cardboard boxes as “EWASTE," with collection beginning at 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 29. Items will be picked between Monday through Friday, date TBD, regardless of your regular garbage pickup day.
- Pickup is no charge and limited to LRS Village of Schaumburg curbside residential customers.
- There is a seven (7) item limit including only one (1) TV or (1) Monitor
- Tube TV’s may not exceed 40” (inches) or 100 pounds
- Flat Screen TV’s may not exceed 60” (inches) or 100 pounds
- Appliances are not included as electronic recycling and require their own special curbside pickup.
- Collection is for household E-Waste items only. Commercial or business electronics are not accepted.
- Items not reflected on the below list of being acceptable will not be collected. Unacceptable items will be left behind.
- This service is designated for residents that have prearranged for it as part of the LRS service offerings.
- If you do not have a chance to sign-up by the deadline, date TBD, you can get rid of your E-waste by participating in the drop-off event on date TBD, in the village. More information is available on this page.

A drive-up Document Destruction Event is held in both the spring and fall exclusively for Schaumburg residents.

Residents (ID required) can bring up to two banker boxes of documents to be shred. This is a drive-up event. Please enter from Prairie Center Dr.

Ever wondered what it takes to keep the village running? This is your chance to go behind the scenes and discover the skills, tools, and equipment that keep our infrastructure in top shape.
What to Expect:
- Touch-a-Truck – Get up close with real working vehicles.
- Live Demonstrations – Watch the experts in action.
- Equipment Displays – Explore the tools that keep the village running.
- Informational Booths – Learn more about public works operations.
- Free Giveaways and Snacks – Fun extras for the whole family.
The event is free and open to all ages.
Recognizing the urgent needs of animals at local rescue organizations, the village is proud to collect items and monetary donations at the Public Works Open House to benefit the Almost Home Foundation and Chicagoland Dog Rescue. The public may bring new, unopened items for donation at the event, such as:
- Leashes and collars (all sizes)
- Large pee pads
- Unopened Purina One Plus Wet Puppy Food (Classic Ground Healthy Puppy Lamb – canned and dry)
- Kong Goodie Bones
- Catnip toys and feather cat toys
- Blankets, sheets, pillows and large comforters
- Pet gates
- Gift cards to Petco, PetSmart, or Chewy
Items can also be ordered through the Amazon wish list to be delivered to the Engineering and Public Works facility. Early donation drop-offs are welcome now through Friday, May 15 at the Public Works facility, 714 S. Plum Grove Rd.
