Contractor Registration is required for all contractors performing work in the Village of Schaumburg. There is no bond or insurance required. Contractors who’s business is located outside of the Village of Schaumburg will be issued an “Out of Town Contractors License” through this process. All contractors whose business is located within the village of Schaumburg must apply for a Business License, or Home Based Business License if the business operates out of your home. 

The current annual license fee for out of town contractors is $125, which includes the required $10 Schaumburg Business Association fee. Between July and November of the current year, the fee is prorated to $67.50. Licenses are valid through Dec. 31 and must be renewed annually. Renewal for the next business year begins approximately Nov. 15.

The village does not license roofers or plumbers as these trades are licensed by the State of Illinois. Residents can verify if a roofing contractor is licensed by the state by visiting the State of Illinois Department of Professional Regulations. To verify if a plumbing contractor is licensed with the state, please contact the Illinois Department of Public Health at (217) 524-0791. If the village does not have a current copy of a roofer's or plumber's license, the village will ask that they submit a copy to prior to permit issuance.
