Designed to provide a clear picture of how residents perceive the quality of services, safety, and overall livability, the NCS serves as a benchmark for local performance compared to other communities nationwide. This valuable insight empowers governments to make informed decisions, prioritize resources, and enhance policies that address the needs and desires of the community.
2024 NCS Results
The Village of Schaumburg remains an exceptional place to live and raise a family, according to the most recent results from residents who participated in the National Community Survey™ (NCS). The survey was administered in the fall of 2024 to 3,500 random households that were asked to provide feedback on the quality and usefulness of village services. Survey findings will be used to guide strategic planning, allocate resources, and provide insights to departments regarding programs and services.
Key highlights from the 2024 survey where Schaumburg met or exceeded national benchmarks include:
- 96% of respondents rate the village as an excellent or good place to live.
- 93% rated their overall quality of life in Schaumburg as excellent or good.
- 95% of respondents would recommend Schaumburg as a place to raise a family.
- 88% gave positive ratings to the overall image and reputation of Schaumburg.
Strong satisfaction with Schaumburg’s government and economy was also significant in the 2024 survey results, with several key metrics exceeding national benchmarks.
In terms of Government performance:
- 88% of residents rate Schaumburg’s overall image and reputation as excellent or good.
- 80% believe the government is honest and transparent.
- 78% approve of the village’s overall direction.
- 78% feel the government acts in the community’s best interest.
All of these scores surpass national benchmarks.
Regarding the village’s local economy - 95% of residents rate the local economy as excellent or good, with the village surpassing national averages in business quality, economic vitality, employment opportunities, shopping options, business diversity, and commercial district vibrancy.
Further, Since the village’s first survey in 2014, several key areas have shown significant improvement including:
- Overall quality of utility infrastructure, where ratings increased by 14 percent
- Availability of paths and walking trails, where ratings increased by 14 percent
- Stormwater management, where ratings increased by 13 percent
Survey findings will be used to guide strategic planning, allocate resources, and provide insights to departments regarding programs and services. Some of the areas that residents identified for the village to focus on over the next two to three years include:
