Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet

The Village of Schaumburg, through Nursing & Senior Services, offers a Durable Medical Equipment Loan Closet to support residents of Schaumburg Township who need temporary access to mobility aids, bathroom safety equipment, and other assistive devices. This program allows residents to borrow equipment at no cost—no down payment or security deposit is required.

Loan Closet Details:

  • Eligibility: Available to Schaumburg Township residents only
  • Loan Period: Equipment may be borrowed for up to 90s day. An additional 90-day extension may be possible upon request; however, extensions are not guaranteed. If there is a waiting list for a specific item, it must be returned by the original due date so it can be made available to other residents.
  • Pick-up & Drop-off: Equipment can be picked up or returned Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Residents are encouraged to bring someone who can assist them with handling the equipment.
  • Appointments: While walk-ins are accepted, appointments are preferred to ensure efficient service. Call (847) 923-3766 to schedule.
  • Returns: All equipment must be returned in the same condition it was issued. If items are not returned by the due date, the resident will be invoiced for the full replacement cost.

Available Equipment Includes:

  • Bathing & Toileting Aids: Transfer benches, bath chairs, commodes, toilet rails, and seat risers
  • Mobility Aids: Walkers, rollators, canes, wheelchairs, and knee walkers
  • Bariatric Equipment: Select mobility and bathroom safety items
  • Other Aids: Grabbers, sock aids, shoe horns, bed rails, bedside tables, and transfer boards

Additional Services:

The Nursing & Senior Services Division also maintains a limited supply of medical equipment for donation to residents on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents will be asked to sign a waiver form when receiving donated items. To check availability, call (847) 923-3766.
